The ELCC is a simple transducer for detecting presence or failure of the AC supply. An isolated contact is provided which indicates AC available if closed and AC absent or failed if open. 

If the equipment is connected to the same electrical circuit where critical equipment is also connected, it will be possible to know its power supply status via a simple parallel electrical socket. In the event of an electrical failure, it will provide immediate warning of the event, or alternatively, uptime/downtime metrics for a given AC circuit.
