AiroSensor T (20203x) Installation Guide

The AiroSensors come with a U-shape holder for easy mounting and docking of the logger. The holder is attached to the device in its packaging and can be easily removed with some practice.

Looking at the top of the AiroSensor you can see a small gap between the logger and the holder along the long side. Place your thumb nail in this gap. With your other hand grab the logger with your thumb and index finger at its short edges and while pulling the holder to the outside a bit away from the logger with your thumb you turn and lift the Sensor out of its holder with your other hand. To put the datalogger back in the holder, place the AiroSensor on top of the holder, with the 'ears' of the logger aligned with the small gaps on the top edges of the holder, and push the device down. When pushed down all the way it will snap into the holder. Practice this a few times until you get the feel for it and you will never have a problem removing an AiroSensor from its holder.

The antenna is fragile, please do not apply any force to the antenna during the undock/dock process.

Location

For placing dataloggers, in general, the same rules apply as for Access Points:

  • Avoid placing the AiroSensor near or in line with environments or conditions that directly affect the sensor's readings (e.g. near fridge door, near fridge ventilator, near fridge heat exchanger / condenser, among others).
  • If the AiroSensor has an Antenna, it must be installed in a vertical position.
  • Place the logger as closely as possible to the location of the Access Point.
  • Try to avoid mounting the device on a metal surface.
  • Try to avoid mounting the datalogger on large bodies of wood or plastic.
  • Try to avoid concrete wall or floor between the Access Point and the dataloggers.
  • Try to avoid metal walls or surfaces between the Access Point and the dataloggers.
  • When mounting the device in a metal or shielded cabinet like a refrigerator or freezer, place the logger as closely as possible to the rubber gaskets/seals of the door, at the side of the hinges. This way the logger has the best possibility to communicate through the seals and is not in the way when the door is open and is influenced less by outside air rushing in when the door is opened.

Mounting

There are two ways to mount a holder to a surface:

• Glue: When the surface is smooth and solid you can glue the holder to that surface. Use the supplied alcohol pad to clean the surface to remove any dirt and grease. Let the alcohol evaporate and wait until the surface is dry. Align the holder with the surface to check where it should fit and if needed mark the position with tape or pencil. Remove the cover sheet of the double-sided tape and place the holder on the surface. Note that when the tape sticks it is not possible to re-align the holder. Press firmly for 10 seconds. The tape supplied should sustain weather influences as well as cold and hot temperatures within the operation temperature range of the data loggers. The double-sided tape must be installed at temperatures above 0°C.

• Screw: When the surface is not smooth or solid you should use the two supplied stainless-steel screws to mount the holder to the surface. The screws can be used to fix the holder to wooden or plaster walls. If you need to mount the device to a brick wall you need to drill holes and use plugs, which are not supplied. If you need to use longer screws, try to use stainless steel ones, and make sure they level with the base of the holder to avoid damaging the device when placed in the holder.
