Equipments Needed:
Mobile AccessPoint 200110
Power Supply (included) (12/24VDC Cigarette Lighter Plug available by request)
3G/4G Data SIM Card
Note: Might be necessary to confirm APN with your Mobile Network Provider
Find the right location to install your Access Point, keeping the following notes in mind. The AccessPoint uses radio signals to wirelessly communicate with the Sensors as well as with the 3G/4G Mobile Network. To get the best possible reception:
- Place the AccessPoint as close as possible to the location of the loggers.
- If the area that needs to be covered is large, place multiple AccessPoints at different locations in the building/at the site.
- Mount the AccessPoint in a vertical position.
- The AccessPoint can be glued to the surface using double-sided tape.
- Do not mount the Access Point close to or on a metal surface or near equipment or cables with magnetic fields.
- Try to avoid mounting the AccessPoint on concrete walls.
- Try to avoid concrete walls or floors between the AccessPoint and the loggers.
- Try to avoid mounting the AccessPoint on thick wooden beams.
- Try to avoid metal walls or surfaces between the AccessPoint and the loggers. Also, modern windowpanes with a sunscreen protection (a thin metal film) obstruct wireless signals significantly.
- In order to check the 3G/4G Network Signal Strength the equipment case must be disassembled to be able to see router's LED lights. Alternatively, it is also possible to measure the signal strength of a particular mobile operator in the desired location using another device (e.g. smartphone) configured in the same range (3G or 4G) and with the same operator.
- If your Mobile AccessPoint includes a SIM Card provided by ViGIE, please skip to last step from this procedure for System Validation after installing the equipment.
Assembly and Configuration of a Data SIM Card:
The purpose of the next 2 topics is to assist in configuring ViGIE’s Mobile Access Point to communicate with the ViGIE cloud using your own SIM Card. First SIM Card assembly is needed, then it is necessary to configure the Router's Software. To achieve this, please review the following requirements:
- Laptop or PC (with browser and RJ45 Network Port)
- RJ45 Network Cable
- Small Screwdriver
- Umbraco Hexagon key 2.5mm (as shown in step 4)
- SIM Card (Active for Mobile Data usage - 3G/4G network)
Hardware Procedure:
1 – Unscrew the 4 screws from the bottom
2 – Disconnect the antenna.
3 – Disconnect the Power and Network cables and carefully pull out the Teltonika Router. The router is held in place with Velcro, so you might need to use some force.
4 – Find the Teltonika side that indicates “Remove Panel to insert SIM” and then unscrew the 2 screws.
5 – Carefully pull out the inside board to insert the SIM.
6 – Reinstall via reverse process up to the white bottom cover. However, do not screw the 4 screws (from step 1) yet.
7 – IMPORTANT: To ensure the default settings, a hard-reset is needed. Please ensure the equipment is powered on and press the small reset button for approx. 15 seconds.
8 – Before mounting the 4 screwed white bottom cover, please do the software procedure in the next section.
Software Procedure:
1 – Connect the RJ45 Network Cable to the Teltonika and a Computer Network Port. Power up the Teltonika using the power cable that is originally plugged in.
2 – Make sure that the network card used in the computer is configured by DHCP.
3 – Access via browser the IP: 192.168.2.1 using the credentials provided in the sticker found below the Teltonika.
NOTE: If you are unable to login with these credentials, please perform the hard-reset again.
4 – Set a new password. We recommend using “Vsuser01” as our standard for future support purposes.
5 – After this step, the Setup Wizard will start.
6 – Please sync the clock with your browser and setup your time zone.
7 – In the next step ensure that DHCP is ON.
8 – In the next step, you’ll need to setup the APN from your Mobile Network Provider, as well as insert the SIM PIN.
Example APN:
Vodafone:
• net2.vodafone.pt
• internet.vodafone.pt
For NOS/MEO:
• umts
• internetm2m
Note: Might be necessary to confirm APN with your Mobile Network Provider
9 – In the last setup wizard it is not necessary to perform any changes, just press “Save and Apply”.
10 – Go to the homepage and check the Modem Tab Status, ensuring that Data Connection is Connected as well as checking the network signal strength. Please don’t skip this final test.
Perform a final soft-reboot and check if the Modem -> Data Connection is Connected by itself.
11 – Update Firmware by selecting SYSTEM > Firmware > Update Firmware. In the section Flash New Firmware Image, please select the following settings:
• Update from server
• Firmware type Device Firmware
• Keep settings ON
Click on UPDATE
After the update is complete, the successful validation will be displayed.
After the update, the Teltonika will reboot with existing settings.
If the settings were not saved after reboot, please proceed with the new setup wizard.
Note: Please ensure that the Network type is set to 4G only
12 – Disconnect the router from your device and connect the RJ45 that was originally plugged in. Now you can mount the 4 screws.
System Checkup
Please power up the system.
Please wait (usually less than 2 mins) while the Teltonika Router connects to your Network Provider.
You can find a Status LED Light on the top. It will flash Red while the connection is being established.
Under normal operating conditions, Static Green Light means that everything is OK and Online.
If you find the LED light flashing red for longer than 2 minutes after ensuring Teltonika’s Data Connection is “Connected”, please reach out to us.
Once Online, don’t forget to perform Undock/Dock procedure on your loggers to quickly start the Pairing process. Please allow 1 minute between the Undock and Dock procedure.
